- This bootable disk contains a DR-DOS 7.03, plus tools for FAT32 and NTFS
- as well as for IDE, USB and FireWire(IEEE1394) CD-ROM and HDD access.
- NOTE: Nero may try to change content of some included files, (e.g. DCONFIG.SYS),
- so be careful if changing them.
-
-
- About older FAT
- ---------------/
- Of course, previous FAT partitions, as FAT16 are fully supported by DR-DOS
- 7.03.
-
- About FAT32
- -----------/
- The FAT32 driver is loaded by default and no additional command is
- required to access your FAT32 partition.
-
- About NTFS
- ----------/
- The loaded NTFS driver is a read-only driver. The NTFS partitions can
- be accessed but any modification operations (like creating or deleting
- file or diractory, copying) of this file system are not supported.
-
- About USB HDD
- -------------/
- Also recognition of external USB hard disk drives as well as of USB memory sticks
- is supported. The FAT resp. NTFS file system drivers will also search for FAT resp.
- NTFS partitions on these external devices.
-
- About IDE/SCSI CD-ROM
- ---------------------/
- Unfortunately, SCSI CD-ROMs are not supported, because only IDE drives have a
- generic driver (VIDE-CDD.SYS from OAK). SCSI depends from the SCSI controller,
- and there is no generic driver available for DR-DOS and SCSI controllers.
-
- About USB/IEEE1394 CD-ROM
- -------------------------/
- SCDD driver guidelines:
- * When using an on-board USB/FireWire controller:
- Some motherboards allow to disable IRQs for on-board devices via BIOS.
- For SCDD to work, the IRQs for USB and FireWire controllers must be enabled.
- * Some BIOSes allow ROM BIOS shadowing. This option must be turned off at least
- for addresses D000-DFFF, because the FireWire controllers use this region for
- i/o. Otherwise, the driver will be unable to initialize the FireWire controllers.
- * To reserve letters for on-the-fly attachment of devices, specify the number
- of letters to reserve with the /R command-line switch in dconfig.sys.
- e.g. HIDEVICE=C:\SCDD.SYS /D:USBCD001 /R:2
- * When reading from a device it is possible that sometimes the device's spindle
- has not had the time to spin up to its proper speed. This may lead to small
- delays (1-2 sec) before data is read, or a message may be displayed by DOS e.g.
-
- Drive not ready. Abort, Retry, Fail?
-
- We recommend to retry the operation several times (Retry).
-
- About assigned drive letters
- ----------------------------/
- The drive letters are assigned in order the particular driver are loaded and starting
- with the next free drive letter:
- 1. All FAT16 Partitions beginning with C:
- 2. All FAT32 Partitions
- 3. All NTFS Partitions
- 4. All IDE CD-ROM drives
- 5. All USB/IEEE1394 CD-ROM drives
